Remove duplicate lines from text
Paste a line-based list to remove repeated entries while keeping the first occurrence of each line in its original position. The tool runs locally in your browser.
Why remove duplicate lines?
Copied lists and exported data can contain the same entry more than once. Scanning a long list manually is error-prone, especially when a duplicate is far from its first occurrence. This tool compares complete lines, keeps the first copy, and preserves the order of the remaining text.
When this tool is useful
Clean contact or item lists
Remove repeated names, product entries, or other one-record-per-line text before sharing it.
Prepare URL and keyword lists
Deduplicate line-based URL, keyword, or topic lists while retaining their original order.
Tidy copied or exported data
Remove repeated rows from plain-text exports before moving them into a spreadsheet or editor.
Example
Before
red blue red green blue
After
red blue green
The first occurrence of each exact line is kept; later identical lines are removed without sorting the list.
Frequently asked questions
Does the tool sort the lines?
No. It keeps the original order and removes later occurrences of lines that have already appeared.
Does it compare whole lines or individual words?
It compares complete lines. Words that appear on different lines are not treated as duplicates.
Are lines with different capitalization duplicates?
No. Matching is exact and case-sensitive, so `Apple` and `apple` remain separate lines.
Is my list sent to a server?
No. Duplicate removal runs in your browser; the text you paste is not uploaded for processing.
